Nowhere else will you witness the paths of education, fandom, and community merge into what we can only describe as a weekend to remember!
ETSU-Con celebrated it's ninth show on March 23-24, 2024 with featured guests Ryan Colt Levy, Tara Sands, Mara Junot, and William Salyers. The situation required me to assume the role as Con-Manager and Marketing Director, alongside my previous role as Staff Advisor to the students operating and organizing this year's show.
This was my eighth year involved with the event, and my final year involved as a Staff member since beginning in 2016. I oversaw event budgeting, marketing, designing graphics, community outreach, sponsorships, contract writing and negotiating- as well as communicating with the university for partnership.

Designing an event with a $36,000 budget
For this year's ETSU-Con, I worked alongside Con-Chair, Sami Morris, and Con-Manager, Matthew Barker, to bring back the event for 2024.
Originally, I had stepped away due to being in graduate school. I was asked later to help bring the show to operating capacity, two months before the show was set to happen.
Due to the time constraint for this in order for it to be successful, I worked together with East Tennessee State University, agents I had befriended, and networked around East Tennessee for resources to make our event successful.

Experience Focuses:
1. Making up for lost time in planning
2. Mentoring students in new leadership roles
3. Recreate a similar feeling of the excitement from 2023
4. Family-focused event
5. Recruiting opportunity for prospective students

We decided as a team "go big, or go home", in order to hype the area for the event to drive ticket sales. We chose four voice actors, all of which also agreed to one (1) free autograph- something we were previously told in 2024 might not be possible.

In order to make the event successful, we offered a new discounted ticket rate for students that attended a college outside of ETSU. With proof of ID, any college student could now attend ETSU-Con for only $25 for the whole weekend! This discount was motioned for after a number of complaints in 2023 about there being a lack of discounts for other college students.
We partnered with ETSU Office of Admissions as well for 2024, also utilizing this event as an opportunity for recruiting for prospective students.
