Come as You Are: Safe Space Showcase
FALL 2024
The biannual exhibition “Come As You Are” is a student art showcase featured in the Mary V. Jordan Multicultural Center at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee.
The intention for this show is to provide our students a safe space to be vulnerable and open: artistically, culturally, and socially. With ETSU’s commitment to community, students on campus are always actively seeking an opportunity to be heard. The artists in this show are members of varying communities- such as sexuality and gender minorities, students of color, students with disabilities, and much more.
This show was developed by two students, Iyana Jones and Ren Walker (ETSU Department of Digital Media) who worked alongside Bethanie Dye, coordinator for the Dr. Patricia Robertson Pride Center, and Madison Warner (creative administrator for ETSU’s Department of Digital Media) to conceptualize and execute “Come As You Are.” This student art showcase takes place biannually in the fall and the spring.
The Fall 2024 art showcase featured 24 pieces of varying mediums, from digital artwork, to spoken word, to 3D models, and vector graphics
