Chalk the Block is an event that the department of Digital Media has been hosting since 2022. The purpose of this event is to encourage community at the beginning of the semester. This is an event that is crafted for creating relationships, learning names, and student retention.
During my summer job with the department of Digital Media, I was told that it would be my responsibility moving forward to host department events and to craft student experiences. Chalk the Block was my first ever solo department event, welcoming back 120 students and Digital Media faculty for the Fall 2023 semester.

Awards were handed out for the top three artworks, and we offered both indoor and outdoor options for students that needed a sensory option.
